With the 2016 season closing in fast, most teams in the National Football League have intensified their efforts to make new signings to bolster their existing squads. Dallas Cowboys has not been left behind. It’s official now that we have signed Maliek Collins into our ranks. During the recent NFL Draft, the former Nebraska DT lineman appeared as one of the last four critical players to be drafted in April from his playground in Nebraska and join us. We managed to select him in the fourth round of the NFL Draft with the No. 67 being the overall magic pick that led us to him. With the defensive tackle home with us, we hope that you will all rally behind Maliek Collins Cowboys! He penned a four-year deal with us, which is expected to keep him within our camp until 2020. The financial details of the deal will not be disclosed as for now.
Maliek Collins Injury
However, Collins career in the NFL seems to have started on a rough note after he suffered a broken foot in June during Organized Team Activities. Mark Collins’ injury is an early season blow for us, as he will be sidelined for the next 10 to 12 weeks. His injury required the surgeons to stabilize his broken foot using screws and bone grafts. However, we hope he will recover in time for the new season that kicks off on September 8, 2016.
Maliek Collins Highlights
Maliek Collins is a former Nebraska Defensive Tackle. He famously decided to forego his senior season with the Huskers in 2015. However, his career in Nebraska has been magnificent. The following are some of Maliek Collins highlights for the three years he played for Nebraska. During the 2014 season, Collins registered 4.5 sacks and 45 tackles. In the 2015 season, he registered 2.5 sacks and 29 tackles. At only 21, we hope Collins will provide Dallas Cowboys with more options at the defensive line. We congratulate him as he prepares for the upcoming season in 2016.
